Week 7 Problem Solving

Today I have been solving question 1 which had numbers, Their are 14 kaumatua,16 tables, seat for 9 people,2 tables can seat 8 people.My strategy was:

16 x 9 =
10 X 9 = 90
6 X 9 = 54
90 + 54 = 144

2 X 8 = 16
144 + 16 = 160
160 + 14 = 174

So the answer is 174!!!.
